Interesting sharing. Here we also peered into the heart of Jacob. So we must be very humble and tentative to use our imagination and creativity to speculate possible underlying thought and reason of Jacob.
I would agree with your argument about the timing. The contrast between Roeben and Juda might be something other than the timing. Juda seemed to learn the spiritual lesson better than Roeben. He was willing to sacrifice himself, while Roeben was willing to sacrifice his sons.

Yeah, these two mythic animals, Behemoth and Leviathan, were used by the Lord to challenge Job's understanding and self evaluation.
For me, Job was forced to publicly recognize the limitation of his rationality and understanding.
For many people, they still trusted their own rationality and understanding. They treated their own rationality as the final authority to judge on the truth.
For me, I would opt for recognizing my limitation and imperfection in my understanding and rationality. Yet, I would still praise the Lord for granting me those immature and imperfect rationality and understanding, so that I could enjoy the created nature...

Welcome Mr. Huang to join our discussion. The story had quite some tension. The old and experienced and mature priest Eli didn't have Yahweh's revelation for a long time. [1 Sam 3:1]. There must be something wrong with old Eli. Yahweh seemed to decide to chang the person He would like to use as his servant by talking to small, young, immature Samuel, instead of talk to Eli directly. But when Samuel told Eli about what he heard from the Lord. Eli seemed to submit to the soverignty of the Lord, without any petition or repentation. I also puzzled on Eli's response. Is this response an absolute obedience, or a negative resignation, or a sign of despair?

Yeah, Peter had very strong personal character, which was recorded with much details, for us to study and to learn from.
I would agree with your opinions that Jesus chose Peter to be His chief disciples, with one purpose to teach us and to encourage us. So God would invite every one of us, no matter how imperfect or immature we were, to be the disciples of Jesus Christ. Our lives could be transformed if we accept the calling and were willing to follow Jesus, with our failures and mistakes, yet we could grow, under the grace of the Lord.

As for speculating the possible motivation or intention of Joseph in his intriguing design to trick his brothers, Joseph seemed very careful and manipulating to find out what he would like to know about his younger brother and old father's current situation.
As for the ethical concern against Joseph's plot, this might be other relavant field for us to meditate and discuss.
Was this just a story recorded in the Bible for us to enjoy? Was Joseph's behavior presented here as a descriptive historical account? Or a prescriptive model for us to emulate and follow? Or a prohibitive example to warn us against such or simular behavior?
