When we deal with the faults and sins of others, we usually fall into one of two extremes. We may either over-condemn like a Pharisee or allow anything like the Corinthians. Phinehas was a man who knew when a stand had to be taken. His zeal was well-placed.

Phinehas could not accept the rebellion against God. He was probably not the only one to make such a stand, but he did stop the plague. We may think our particular stand for righteousness makes no difference, but God honors our work and would cause it to make the difference.
