There shall be a fountain opened for the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness. Besides, they would be refined as one refines silver, and be tested as gold is tested. Jacob altered the genetic characteristics of cattle by letting them view a striped rod. His purpose in doing so was to trick Laban. The breeding of the stronger animals would of course produce stronger calves and lambs.
Jacob put too much stock in his methods and too little trust in the blessings of the Lord. If he had not done this, the result might have been the same. God was blessing Jacob because He loved him and because he was due a just wage.

雅各出生時是抓著他雙胞胎的哥哥以掃的腳跟出來的，所以以撒給他起名叫雅各，其實就是抓住（grasp）的意思，這也使得他變成不擇手段去抓住對他有利的事，只要是自己想要的東西，就算是欺騙自己的父親和大哥也沒關係。但是雅各這樣的個性卻仍被上帝所揀選，讓他親身經歷上帝來改變自己。
當雅各偽裝成他哥哥以掃並騙取父親的祝福後，以掃生氣的想殺了他，雅各心裡害怕便逃往他舅舅拉班那兒，然而，就在逃亡的過程中，他遇見了上帝。人遇見上帝會讓生命改變，雅各也不例外，他把這個遇見神地方取名為伯特利，而遇見神之後接著便是發現愛。
上帝透過愛來改變雅各，讓雅各從自私自利的人變成為愛犧牲自己的人，因為他愛上了拉班的小女兒拉結，為了拉結他甘願辛苦做工七年，即便後來發現被舅舅欺騙，他還是再甘願多做工七年。上帝讓他在這十四年的服事來改變他，讓他明白自己也曾欺騙過父親和兄長，讓他明白自己應該抓住的是愛，而不是世間的名份。

Haman was filled with wrath against Mor'decai, and even sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mor'decai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasu-e'rus. I don't know why a man with huge power and wealth like Haman still feuded with an ordinary one as Mor'decai.
Haman said, "Yet all this does me no good, so long as I see Mor'decai the Jew sitting at the king's gate" (Es 5:13). I feel great pity on Haman, who would never experience happiness and satisfaction.

Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, so the ladder is a spiritual symbol. It reaches to heaven where God lives. On the ladder, the angels of God ascend and descend. The dream reveals to Jacob that he could have access to the Lord and "the Lord would be with him and would keep him wherever he goes,…"(Ge 28:15).

真希望像哈曼這等位高權重的人，都能以全民福祉為念，而不是只注意自己有沒有被跪拜，更不要找藉口要滅人民族，終究會遭報應的。
至於末底改，起先他囑咐以斯帖不要讓人知道自己是猶太人，救過王的性命(2:19-23)後，末底改似乎比較放心讓朝臣知道自己是猶太人的事。
這裡好像沒提到末底改不跪拜哈曼的原由？也不知道他是否是唯一不跪拜哈曼的猶太人？這樣做究竟是「尊主為大」或是「陷禍全族」？
無論如何，結果是神搭救了末底改及全族的人、處死了驕傲的哈曼。
求主幫助我，不要像哈曼這樣扭曲了手中的權柄；當我像末底改這樣處在動輒得咎的環境中時，求主賜給我智慧與勇氣，行主所喜悅的事。

The harlot arrayed in purple and scarlet and bedecked with gold and jewels and pearls is symbolic of Babylon. "Babylon the great, mother of harlots and of earth's abominations" is a pretty sarcastic expression.
In Revelation, the Apostle John tells the tale of two women. One is dressed in pure white, revealing the purity of true faith and doctrine. This pure woman of Revelation 12 is committed to Christ. Revelation 17 pictures another woman. The woman in scarlet riding on a beast may symbolize a corrupt church or system.

These verses are a reflection to the relationship among family members. First, Rebekah was not obedient to her husband. She knew the one whom Isaac wanted to bless was Esau but she hoaxed his husband since she was in favor of Jacob.
Second, Rebekah didn't treat her two sons fairly. Her favoring the younger one led to unforgivable sin. Why didn't Isaac punish Jacob for his taking advantage of his older brother twice? Children expect to receive equal parental love. No wonder Esau felt he didn't get what he deserved.
Finally, Jacob was wrong, but if Esau's anger and hatred toward him never ended, there wouldn't be harmonious relationship in the family. That's probably why Isaac blessed Esau this way, "… you shall serve your brother; but when you break loose you shall break his yoke from your neck."

The Israelites are the apple of the Lord's eye, so He cares for them like an eagle which flutters over its young. The eagle must be brave because he is alone with no company.
The simile is illustrated that God always bears His children on His pinions as an eagle and He keeps His children from any negative influence. The simile is indeed appropriate and striking.

After Isaac became wealthy, the Philistines and Abim'elech envied him. Abim'elech even asked him to leave his land. Besides, the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen twice.
Yet Isaac was not narrow-minded as those mean people. He dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of Abraham his father and showed gratitude to the Lord by saying, "…the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."
Getting prosperous is welcomed by most of the people, and it is also the right tme to test whether one is loyal and faithful to God.

神待以色列百姓，「...又如鷹攪動巢窩，在雛鷹以上兩翅搧展，接取雛鷹，背在兩翼之上。」(32:11)
鷹實在比人有智慧，等候、照顧到可以試飛，就攪動巢窩，不讓雛鷹變"宅"鷹；在學飛的過程，又隨行保護，先背在背上讓雛鷹體驗風速......直到牠獨自翱翔。值得學習！
每次讀這段摩西與約書亞的交接，總是被大大的感動。摩西是那麼的無可取代，百姓屢惹麻煩，總有摩西站在百姓與神的中間，但約書亞及以色列百姓，總要面臨自己承擔的時刻。
摩西像鷹爸爸，"背"以色列人飛了很遠的路了，現在是約書亞及百姓"單飛"的時刻，「這樣，耶和華獨自引導他，並無外邦神與他同在。」(32:12)
現在我理解為什麼神帶領我離開我屬靈的家鄉"飛"到台北了。

鷹實在比人有智慧，等候、照顧到可以試飛，就攪動巢窩，不讓雛鷹變"宅"鷹；在學飛的過程，又隨行保護，先背在背上讓雛鷹體驗風速......直到牠獨自翱翔。值得學習！
每次讀這段摩西與約書亞的交接，總是被大大的感動。摩西是那麼的無可取代，百姓屢惹麻煩，總有摩西站在百姓與神的中間，但約書亞及以色列百姓，總要面臨自己承擔的時刻。
摩西像鷹爸爸，"背"以色列人飛了很遠的路了，現在是約書亞及百姓"單飛"的時刻，「這樣，耶和華獨自引導他，並無外邦神與他同在。」(32:12)
現在我理解為什麼神帶領我離開我屬靈的家鄉"飛"到台北了。

撒拉過世了，亞伯拉罕也感到自己的衰老，他明白在他離世之前還有一件事情必須完成，那就是將上帝的信仰傳承到下一代，這是一件很重要的事情，因為上帝的應許必須有堅定的信仰才會實現，而這堅定的信仰又必須在幸福的家庭中活出來。
亞伯拉罕擔憂迦南人敬拜不當的偶像會影響到他兒子以撒的信仰，所以不讓他兒子娶迦南人為妻，於是他派了他最信任的僕人以利以謝回到故居哈蘭找媳婦，因為年邁的亞伯拉罕沒有體力再長途奔波了，他只能為他僕人禱告，並懇求上帝開路。
以利以謝並沒有辜負亞伯拉罕的期望，當他到達哈蘭之後便禱告上帝給他一個印證，讓上帝來揀選合適的女子，而上帝也信實的把利百加帶到以利以謝的面前，應驗了上帝的應許，接著利百加也接受了上帝的呼召，離開了哈蘭的家來到遙遠的迦南，並在田間遇到正在默禱的以撒，上帝便賜下祝福給他們，他們也彼此相愛，於是成立了合一的家庭，透過幸福的婚姻生活把信仰傳給了後代。
