I wonder whether we would need to mention about the name of God in order to teach our children about God.

I chuckled when I read your observation about the turtle hair on Jacob [ where? lower leg, or?... JK]
I would also agree with your observation that parents could only do some initiation and encouragement for their children. Every one of us should be responsible for our own faith, while show gratitude to the good impact our parents might have upon our faith.
