The tribe of Levi is given no inheritance since the offerings made by fire to the Lord are their inheritance (Jos 13:14; 33). The locations of the Levites' settlements are allotted sporadically in Israel.

They might undertake the duties of assisting other tribes in worshipping the Lord. That's why each tribe has to give some of its territory to Levi.
