God's final command to Moses is to go up this mountain . . . and die on the mountain (De 32:49). Moses, as the last act of his 120 years, will climb Mount Nebo, and die at the summit of the mountain. Though Moses will not be allowed to cross the Jordan and enter the Promised Land, he can view the land of Canaan.

God reminds Moses of the sin of which he had been guilty, for which he was kept from entering Canaan. It is good for the best of men to die repenting of what they have done. But they may die with comfort and ease because they have a believing prospect and a well-grounded hope of eternal life beyond death.
