The sin offering deals with sins done in ignorance while the trespass offering deals with known sins. The sin offering has to do with the fact that man has a sin nature, while the trespass offering is for sinful acts. The sin offering emphasizes the blood that atones for sin while the trespass offering on confession and restitution.

"The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin" (1 Jo 1:7). "God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them …" (2 Co 5:19). Therefore, though we can make up with the Lord via Jesus Christ, we still need to compensate for our wrongdoings.
